Subpoints

To encourage and reward early participation, Subunit has implemented a Subpoints system layered on top of the vault staking.

Subpoints are reward points that active contributors earn, which later can translate into SUB governance tokens (via airdrops, detailed in a later section).

The SubPoints mechanism works on two levels – daily point accrual for staking, and bonus points for conversion:

Daily Points for Commits:

  • Every day that your USDC is staked in the SubVault, you earn Subpoints.

  • The rate of earning depends on your chosen lock-up duration:

    • 0-day lock (meaning you can withdraw anytime), you don’t earn subpoints daily, but you are still eligible for Subpoint rewards from a property acquisition.

    • 3 month lock accrues 2 subpoints per day

    • 6 month lock accrues 4 subpoints per day

  • The "Subpoint leaderboard" is purely a front-end metric, and real Subpoint values are re-calculated based off of on-chain snapshots.

  • The points accumulate as long as your stake remains in the vault, for the front-end we will show that all these points have accrued at once for simplicity, but your actual balance is accruing on-chain.

Conversion Bonus (100 Subpoints per USDC invested):

The Subpoints system heavily rewards those who follow through and actually participate by onboarding their staked capital into a property.

  • When a property acquisition occurs and you convert your STS (USDC stake) into UNIT property tokens, the protocol awards a one-time bonus of 100 Subpoints for each USDC you contributed that goes into that property.

  • This is a significant boost. For example, if you contributed 1,000 USDC that went into the property, you would receive an immediate 100,000 Subpoints bonus at the time of conversion.

Subpoints Usage:

  • While Subpoints themselves are just numerical credits (not transferable and not directly a token), their purpose is to gauge each member’s contribution and engagement.

  • Subpoints will be used to distribute SUB governance tokens to the community. Essentially, the more Subpoints you accumulate through staking and participating in Subunit’s early growth, the more SUB tokens you will receive when the token distribution events occur. This aligns incentives so that those who support the platform early (either with capital or with active participation in governance and community tasks) become the significant stakeholders in protocol governance down the line.
